The Tax Assessor’s Office is responsible for the valuation and assessment of all real estate in Cherokee County. We gather sales information from each property deed that is recorded in the Cherokee County Register of Deeds office. We also want to make sure this information is accurate and provide you, the property owner an opportunity to make us aware of any part of your recent property transaction that would have us consider it to be a non-qualified market transaction. The accuracy of the sales information we use to determine our valuations are very important. This is one of the best sources of information we could have in making sure property values are fair and equitable county wide.
By completing this questionnaire, it does not affect the current value of your property. The verification from this sales questionnaire will help value properties in Cherokee County during the next reappraisal. The current value on properties was established by sales prior to the 2020 reappraisal. Those values will not change until the next reappraisal unless improvements have been made to the property such as an addition, new outbuilding, removal of improvements, addition of new outbuildings or remodeling.
We appreciate you taking the time to complete the sales questionnaire that will assist our office in the next county wide reappraisal. The information you provide will be used to help us in valuing all properties in Cherokee County more fairly. If you have any questions concerning this form or how to complete it, please feel free to contact our office at (828) 835-3296 option #3 and one of our appraisal staff will be happy to answer any of your questions.
