RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

 

POSITION:              Community Social Services Assistant (part-time)

 

SALARY RANGE:   Grade 54 – Up to $14,159, $10.12 per hour

 

NUMBER OF VACANCIES:         One

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:           Providing services intended to help families with children to maintain self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life. This includes providing transportation services for those children/families that are in the Child Protective Services and Foster Care System and need transportation to visits, doctor’s appointments, or other services as included in the case plan, as well as monitoring visitation between those children and their parents and preparing a summary of the visit for the Social Worker.  These services are intended to help the families prevent or improve conditions of abuse, neglect, and/or dependency; help strengthen family functioning; avoid out-of-home placement; or support the return from substitute care. The intent of these services is to assist and not to replace family members in carrying out their responsibilities. Work also includes providing Medicaid Transportation services for clients going to medical appointments when other arrangements cannot be made and providing transportation for disability determination appointments for applicants when no other options are available.

 

 

In order to provide support services in the area of home management and community living skills, employee will need a basic knowledge of the social, economic, and environmental conditions of clients to be served; working knowledge of basic household tasks and management functions and ability to teach to others; working knowledge of available community resources; ability to establish rapport and relate to clients served and co-workers; ability to prepare and maintain simple reports of activities; and the ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Worker must be able to lift/carry 25-40 lbs. (car seat with child).

 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least one year of experience in performing tasks similar to the ones assigned. Valid Driver’s License is required. First-Aid and CPR training preferred.
