Location:                 Cherokee County Detention Center


Position:                  Transport Officer


Hourly Rate:            $11.435


Status:                     Part time without benefits—max of 28 hours per week


Posting Date:      April 5, 2017


Description: Responsible for the transport of persons in the custody of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office to various locations in the state of North Carolina.  This is as needed work and hours will vary based upon needs.  Employee may be called any time of day, but most transports occur during the day.


Minimum Training and Experience: Requires instruction sufficient for satisfactory job performance and one month up to three months experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Requires ability to interact with co-workers and the public in an acceptable manner.  Ability to drive a motor vehicle in any kind of weather and traffic. Additional needed skills provided after hire.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.


Requires normal visual acuity, depth perception, sense of smell and taste, and texture perception.

Special Requirement:  Must possess a valid driver license with less than two moving violations in past 24 months.  Must be at least 21 years of age.
