Before Disaster Strikes

Where will you be when disaster strikes? Are you prepared to survive on your own for several days? Preparing you and your family in advance for a disaster is your best protection.

Know Who To Call

Knowing who to call in the event of a disaster is crucial. If you have an emergency call 911. Telecommunicators will make sure the proper person is contacted that addresses your needs.

Have a Plan

Create a disaster plan for your family. Plan to share responsibilities and work together as a team.

There are actions you can take that will help you get ready for and cope with almost any type of emergency.

Create a Disaster Supplies Kit

Keep enough supplies in your home to meet your need for at least three days. Assemble a Disaster Supplies Kit, with items you may need in an evacuation.

Stay Calm

Perhaps the most basic thing to remember is to keep calm. This may mean the difference between life and death.

Think Before You Act
 
Take time to think and then take the considered action that the situation calls for.

Keep an emergency notification checklist near the telephone where other emergency information may be posted.
